Andrea Mclean, TV presenter, Weather Girl, Corporate Presenter, Facilator, MC, Awards Host, Andrea most recently was one of the stars of ITV's rates smashing prime time Saturday night hit competition Dancing On Ice. This quickly led to Andrea co presenting with Andi Peters the shows spin off programme - Dancing On Ice Extra. A trained journalist, Andrea began her career as a travel writer in 1993 after backpacking around the world. She shot to fame when she became one of the core team of presenters on GMTV eight years ago. During that time, she has presented various segments to the long-running news and entertainment show, including co-hosting the show with Eamonn Holmes and standing in for Lorraine Kelly. In April, she presented Life Coach for GMTV, a strand which took her round the country with phobias expert Pete Cohen, helping viewers overcome their mental and physical fears. In 2004, Andrea fronted Great Escapes from South Africa, and this year went back to South Africa in the GMTV strand 'Helping Mathapelo', and did live broadcasts every day from the village of Mamone, four hours north of Johannesburgh. The team changed a 15 year old girl's life; gave her school (and consequently the village) its only supply of free running water, provided bikes for her school and gave her a bedroom for the first time in her life (she slept on her mother's floor before that). Andrea is an excellent live TV presenter and in the course of her job she has bungee jumped, rap jumped off Table Mountain in South Africa and loop the looped, strapped to the top of a bi-plane all whilst talking to the camera! She also gained her RAC Formula 4 motor racing licence, which has since expired through lack of a racing car and bravery). However, her passion for fast cars remains undiminished. In 2004, Andrea hosted the home makeover show Our House for UK Style. It was such a ratings success that it was immediately re-screened and it's still a popular show on the channel. She went on to co-host Loose Lips on Living TV for two weeks, standing in for Melinda Messenger. Andrea was born in Glasgow and raised in Trinidad and Tobago. Her journalistic working life started as a staff writer for Central Press Features in 1994, covering TV, film, theatre and book reviews. Other jobs have included being an astrologer, a grill chef, a barmaid and a factory worker. She has maintained her writing skills and is a regular contributor to the Daily Record in Scotland and she has also written for the TV Times, BBC Parenting Magazine, Woman's Weekly, Star Magazine, 19 and Just 17. She is also in the process of writing her first novel. Andrea now lives in London with her three-year-old son. She enjoys cinema, pilates and very slow jogging. In May 2003, she took part in the Playtex Moonwalk Marathon to raise money in the fight against breast cancer. Andrea's out going personality and sense of adventure has lead to her even appearing in a Bollywood movie. Other TV credits include hosting The National ESP Challenge Live for Living in 2003. Also Challenge TV, Carlton Food Network, Channel 5, The Weather Channel, Talk Radio (weather).
