Craig was appointed in November, 1993 in both capacities - International Team Manager and Technical Director. He has an outstanding record as Scotland Team Manager having lost only three of the last twenty-two competitive matches.
Prior to the appointment to his present post he was Under 21 Team Coach and Assistant National Coach for the proceeding eight years. He took the Scottish Under 21 Team to the third place in Europe in 1992 and the Scottish Under 16 Team to the World Youth Cup Final in 1989, loosing on Penalties, after-time, to Saudi Arabia.
Craig was invited by the then Scotland Team Manager, Alex Ferguson, to join the coaching staff in the Mexico World Cup of 1996. Prior to joining the staff of the Scottish Football Association he was in charge of 1st Division Club, Clyde F.C. for ten years.
He won two league Championships with Clyde and produced many outstanding players such as Steve Archibald, Pat Nevin, Ian Ferguson, etc. Prior to his experience with Clyde F.C. he was Assistant Manager at Motherwell F.C. for four years.
Craig played for Scottish Youth and Junior International Teams, Rangers F.C. for three years, Dundee F.C. for six years (League Championship winners and European Cup Semi-Finalists), Falkirk F.C. for three years. His career curtailed by five knee operations.
Craig has a Bachelor of Arts Degree and Diploma in Physical Education. Prior to full-time football involvement Craig was Head Teacher, then Lecturer in Primary Education.
Craig Brown is an Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Economics and Management of Paisley University and is the author of "Activity Methods in the Middle Years" (Oliver & Boyd, 1975).
