Ray moved on to coaching when he retired from the professional game in 1998 and since becoming the National Goalkeeping Coach he has been invited to run courses in Israel, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Cyprus. He has also been invited by FIFA to join their Coaches and Lecturers Committee. Ray has recently signed a new contract with the FA which takes to the end of the next world cup. As well as his wealth of knowledge and experience of the game, Ray also has a relaxed and personable attitude in front of the camera. Because of this, he is regularly invited to appear on Sky Sports, Channel 4 & 5, Eurosport and Commercial Radio to summarize and co-commentate on major football matches. Ray has a vibrant and charming personality and mixes well with people of all ages and backgrounds. He is a popular choice for after dinner and motivational speeches, corporate entertainment and commercial endorsements.
