Simon Walker is dedicated to developing high performance teams and Leaders. Simon also speaks on many conferences world-wide, sharing his practical knowledge learned in the Worlds toughest environments.
After graduating from the University of Manchester in 1989 with a Degree in Computer Engineering he met Sir Chay Blyth and signed up as a Crew Volunteer for the British Steel Challenge round the world yacht race. He then embarked on a path that was to lead to an initial career as a professional yachtsman, competing in many international yacht racing events.
Areas of Expertise
By 1995, Simon had developed leadership and team development programmes based on his range of experiences from working with teams in highly competitive and demanding environments.
He won the first Teachers Whisky Round Britain race in 1995 and in 1996 led a highly respected campaign as skipper of ‘Toshiba Wave Warrior’ in the BT Global Challenge 96/97, the World’s Toughest Yacht Race. He finished second overall in July 1997, the youngest skipper in the event.
After the Race he spent a year working with a leading management development organisation. As a Senior Consultant he worked with clients through-out Europe, Asia and the United States on the development of high performance individuals, teams and organisations.
His speaking engagements have included presentations to many top companies and organisations including BT, RBS, Sema Group, Warner Welcome, Care International, CSFB, Barclays, Toshiba, Drivas Jonas, Numora and Knight Frank.
